Delivery Services
Once your shipment is on the move with ExpressRoad, our delivery process is built to be transparent, predictable, and easy to manage. From collection at the sender right through to signature at the recipient, here is exactly how we get your parcel where it needs to go — and how you stay informed every step of the way.
How Delivery Works
Collection
Our courier partner collects your shipment from the sender address on the agreed collection date, within the chosen pickup window.
In Transit
The shipment is scanned at each handover point. You and the recipient receive automated tracking updates by email at every milestone.
Out for Delivery
Once the parcel reaches the destination depot, it is loaded for delivery. The recipient is notified that delivery is imminent.
Delivered
The driver obtains a signature or proof of delivery. A delivery confirmation is emailed to both sender and recipient.
Delivery Time Windows
Delivery times depend on the service level chosen at quote stage and the route between collection and delivery addresses. Estimated transit times are shown before you book, so there are no surprises.

Transit times are estimates and exclude weekends, public holidays, and customs clearance time on international shipments.
Tracking and Notifications
Every shipment has a unique waybill number. You can track progress at any time using our Track A Package tool. In addition, automated email notifications are sent to both sender and recipient at the following points:
- Booking confirmed and waybill issued
- Shipment collected from sender
- Arrived at destination depot
- Out for delivery
- Delivered (with proof-of-delivery confirmation)
- Any exception (delay, address issue, failed delivery attempt)
Proof of Delivery
On delivery, the driver obtains either a recipient signature or, where signature is not feasible, a delivery photograph or other proof. Proof-of-delivery records are retained on file and can be supplied on request — just email info@expressroad.co.za with your waybill number.
Failed Delivery and Re-delivery
If delivery cannot be completed on the first attempt — for example if the recipient is unavailable, the address is incorrect, or access is restricted — the courier will:
- Leave a notification (where appropriate) and update the tracking page
- Notify the sender by email so the issue can be resolved
- Attempt a second delivery on the next working day, where instructed
- Hold the shipment at the depot for a limited period for collection or re-routing
Repeated failed attempts may incur additional charges, and shipments unclaimed for an extended period may be returned to the sender at the sender’s cost.
Special Delivery Requirements
We support a range of common delivery preferences when you book:
- Delivery instructions — e.g. “leave with security”, “reception desk”, “ring doorbell”
- Saturday or Anytime delivery — available on selected service levels
- Business vs residential addresses — both fully supported nationwide
- Signed receipt — required by default; can be relaxed on request for low-value shipments
- Insurance / additional cover — Protect+ tiers and Goods-in-Transit insurance available at quote stage for higher-value parcels
If Something Goes Wrong
We aim for every delivery to be smooth, but if a parcel is delayed, damaged, or mis-delivered we want to hear about it quickly. Email info@expressroad.co.za with your waybill number and we will investigate. Claim windows and required documentation are set out in our Terms & Conditions.
